Rock Rose belongs to the group of the first twelve flowers (the twelve healers) selected by Dr. Bach during his long walks in the British countryside. He was looking for "an emergency remedy for situations where there seems to be no hope" and settled on Rock Rose. It is a small perennial plant with pale golden yellow flowers, with fragile petals similar to crumpled silk, a characteristic of cistus, from the same botanical family. Like the sunflower, the Rock Rose flower follows the sun's path in the sky by turning towards it.

Each healer embodies one of the twelve character types defined by Bach. A "Rock Rose" person is very sensitive to their environment, like the flower to sunlight.
