Guayapi

Guayapi

Guayapi, sourcer of noble and ethical raw materials since 1990.

Guayapi was founded by Claudie Ravel, Dr. Bernard Touati and Laerte Coaracy in 1990, after 3 years of feasibility studies. Guayapi aims to promote wild-harvested plants from the Amazon and Sri Lanka which respect 3 fundamental criteria: organic, social (fair trade) and the environment (biodiversity). Guayapi is a builder of noble and ethical sectors of plants from their Lands of Origin. In 1993, Claudie Ravel established a partnership going well beyond a simple commercial relationship with the Sateré Mawé Indians of the central Amazon of Brazil, by presenting their wild Waranà-Guaranà from the Lands of Origin on the European market.

Too often, indigenous and traditional populations lack access to local and international markets. This is why Guayapi supports the Sateré Mawé Indian tribe on its own scale. There are 18,000 Indians today compared to 6,000 at the start of the project in 1993. The Waranà Project preserves the identity, culture and territory of the Sateré Mawé Indians. Through its field trips, Guayapi sources the best raw materials according to 3 fundamental criteria: organic, fair trade and biodiversity. We therefore favor traditional know-how which bans chemical or synthetic transformation processes.
