Organic Heather herbal tea — Dried flowers from European herbalism
Common heather (Calluna vulgaris) is a perennial shrub native to European heaths and peat bogs, whose small purple or pink flowers carpet the landscape in late summer and autumn. Used for a long time in traditional herbalism, it is now appreciated in infusions for its mild and slightly floral flavor profile. Herberry offers these dried flowering tops, certified organic.
Botanical overview
Calluna vulgaris, the only species in the Calluna genus, is a subshrub of the Ericaceae family that can reach 20 to 60 cm in height. Its woody stems bear tiny, overlapping evergreen leaves and numerous small pink to purple tubular flowers gathered in dense clusters. Flowering occurs from July to October.
The parts used in herbalism are the flowering tops harvested at peak bloom. They contain arbutosides (including arbutin), flavonoids (quercetin, myricetin), catechin tannins, and phenolic acids.
Aromatic and flavor profile
Heather infusion offers a pinkish to light amber liquor that is slightly translucent. Its taste is sweet, slightly floral, and subtly herbaceous, with very little bitterness. It is one of the most pleasant herbal teas to drink on its own, including for those unaccustomed to herbal infusions.

Yes, its mildness makes it an excellent base for blending. It pairs very well with horsetail, orthosiphon, or dandelion to create an everyday herbal tea.
How should I store my bag of heather?
Keep away from light, heat, and moisture. The 35 g resealable kraft bag ensures optimal preservation for several months after opening.
