Why is an anhydrous, water-free formula superior for restorative care?

The vast majority of creams contain 60% to 80% water, requiring preservatives (parabens, phenoxyethanol, alcohols) to prevent microbial growth. An anhydrous (water-free) balm does not need preservatives: oily active ingredients cannot be colonized by bacteria in the absence of water. This formula is therefore cleaner, more concentrated in active ingredients, and better tolerated by the most fragile skin. Beeswax (Cera alba) forms a natural occlusive layer that is permeable to water vapor (breathable), maintaining natural skin hydration without blocking gas exchange — superior to petroleum jelly and paraffin. Propolis, a natural antibacterial (bioflavonoids), protects the balm from any contamination without synthetic preservatives.
