Why use Dr. Valnet Vanilla essential oil?

Dr. Valnet's Vanilla Essence is used to tone the body and stimulate the mind, combating depression, mild depression, and a lack of libido in men. Vanilla essence is also a true beauty and health treatment for the skin. Combined with other care oils, it stimulates regeneration, purifies, and promotes better hydration.

It has digestive stimulating and cleansing properties, as well as soothing and relaxing properties, especially in children. It has even been used in diffusion to stimulate premature babies and reduce mortality rates.

Because the effects are simultaneously stimulating and relaxing, they stimulate the body and mind without causing excitement or irritation. It is easy to combine oral use, skin massage, and breathing to achieve a combination of effects and properties.

This pure Vanilla essence is obtained by macerating organic Bourbon vanilla pods in organic alcohol, a mixture which is then filtered.

Some notions of botany

Native to Mexico, vanilla is a vine that clings to a tree to grow. Each flower must be pollinated, one by one and manually, which requires daily observation by the grower, as vanilla only blooms for one day over a period of about two months. The flower opens at sunrise and only lives for a few hours. The work of the "matchmakers" begins very early in the morning and must be done quickly and with great dexterity, as there are thousands of flowers to pollinate every day.

The island of Madagascar has become the world's leading producer of vanilla.

A little history…

The Aztec name for vanilla, "tlilxot chiti," means "black pod." The first mention of vanilla is said to be in the Chronicles of the Aztec ruler Itzcoatl (1427-1440). The Aztecs and Mayans knew how to preserve the aroma of this spice and have been using it for centuries, among other things in cocoa drinks to soften the bitterness.

Pre-Columbians also used vanilla as a diuretic and depurative, and attributed it with aphrodisiac and curative properties.

A century later, in 1518, conquistador Hernan Cortés brought the first Mexican vanilla plants to Europe.

Unfortunately, for more than two centuries, various attempts to produce vanilla failed, because only the Melipona bee, specific to Mexico, ensures the fertilization essential for the formation of the fruit.

In 1836, Belgian botanist Charles Morren discovered artificial pollination of the orchid. A few years later, in 1841, Edmond Albius, a 12-year-old slave from Bourdon, managed to figure out, all on his own, how to manually pollinate each vanilla flower, thus replacing the Melipona bee.

A major discovery, still in use, which enabled the development of vanilla cultivation on Reunion Island, then in Madagascar.
