What is Milk Thistle in capsules for the liver?

Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum L), also called wild artichoke, silver thistle, or Our Lady's thistle, is an annual plant of the Asteraceae family. It measures up to 1.5 meters, and is recognizable by its thorny leaves and purple flowers arranged in capitula and visible in spring.
