Organic St. John's Wort Oily Macerate
Are you looking for the oily macerate with the characteristic bright red color, containing the active ingredients hypericin and St. John's wort flavonoids in an organic oil base, for cosmetic skin care of sun-exposed skin and soothing massage preparations? The Organic St. John's Wort Oily Macerate from Herbes et Traditions (Hypericum perforatum) is obtained by macerating dried St. John's wort flowers in an organic vegetable oil. Its intense red color (fat-soluble hypericin and hyperforin) is its most immediate visual marker of quality. 50ml. Organic Ecocert.
Cosmetic profile and properties
- Characteristic intense red color: hypericin and its derivatives (hyperforin) give the macerate its inimitable bright red color. The darker red the oil, the better the maceration. It is an immediate visual indicator of quality.
- Fat-soluble active ingredients of St. John's wort: hypericin, hyperforin, and St. John's wort flavonoids pass into the maceration oil, creating a complete plant-based active ingredient very different from a pure vegetable oil.
- Cosmetic care for sun-exposed skin: traditionally used for the care of skin that has been reddened, slightly burned by the sun, or irritated by heat. Apply only after sun exposure.
- Soothing massage base: St. John's wort is one of the most used massage bases in aromatherapy for care preparations for painful and tense areas.
- 50ml: Organic Ecocert. Herbes et Traditions.

FAQ
Why is St. John's wort red?
The bright red color comes from hypericin, a pigmented naphthodianthrone present in the black glands of St. John's wort flowers and leaves. When a fresh flower is pressed between the fingers, a red liquid appears immediately. It is this same pigment that passes into the maceration oil.
Can St. John's wort be applied before the sun?
Absolutely not. Hypericin is a powerful photosensitizer. If applied before sun exposure, it can cause significant skin reactions (redness, burns). This macerate is used exclusively after exposure, never before or during.
Does the macerate stain the skin red?
Slightly and temporarily. The color fades quickly after absorption. However, it can permanently stain light-colored clothing and sheets. Prefer evening application with dark linens nearby.
