Lithothamnium or its Latin name Phymatolithon calcareum, is a small red algae with the particularity of crystallizing the minerals of seawater and in particular calcium carbonate . This environment gives it a composition very rich in minerals and trace elements. Thus, it contains calcium, sulfur, magnesium , phosphorus, potassium and 19 trace elements, including iron, manganese, iodine, zinc, cobalt, chromium and copper.
