Organic Fairtrade GABA Sprouted Rice — PGI Thai Hom Mali, Source of Magnesium and Vitamin B3, 500g

The most nutritious rice in Asia on your plate with Autour du Riz Organic GABA Sprouted Rice: 500g of PGI Thai Hom Mali brown rice (Sisaket variety, Thailand) sprouted using an ancestral method, parboiled, and certified organic and fairtrade (Bioagricert OperAequa). The sprouting process concentrates nutrients and naturally generates GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), an inhibitory neurotransmitter with relaxing properties. Planet-score A-AAA — the best possible environmental score. A rice that takes you on a journey and does you good.

Why is GABA sprouted rice nutritionally superior?

Sprouting triggers an enzymatic cascade in the grain that profoundly transforms its nutritional profile. The enzyme glutamate decarboxylase (GAD), activated by germination, converts glutamic acid (abundant in rice) into GABA — an inhibitory neurotransmitter of the central nervous system that promotes relaxation and sleep quality. At the same time, sprouting reduces the content of phytic acid (an anti-nutrient that blocks mineral absorption) and activates it into phytase, which degrades it — making minerals (magnesium, phosphorus, zinc) much more bioavailable. The Vitamin B3 (niacin) content also increases during sprouting. The result: rice that is 30 to 50% richer in bioavailable minerals and vitamins than non-sprouted brown rice.

Benefits of Organic GABA Sprouted Rice

  • Natural GABA for relaxation and sleep: GABA sprouted rice contains up to 10 times more GABA than regular brown rice. GABA is the brain's main inhibitory neurotransmitter — it slows down neuronal activity, promotes mental relaxation, and improves sleep quality. Studies have shown that regular consumption of GABA sprouted rice reduces mild anxiety and improves sleep quality after 4 weeks.
  • Exceptional source of bioavailable magnesium: 109 mg of magnesium per 100g (29.1% of RI), with bioavailability enhanced by the degradation of phytic acid during sprouting. Magnesium contributes to the reduction of fatigue, normal functioning of the nervous and muscular systems, and normal energy metabolism (official EFSA claims).
  • Lower glycemic index than white rice: sprouting and parboiling alter the structure of the rice starch — a higher proportion of resistant starch (not digested in the small intestine) contributes to a lower glycemic index and better satiety. Ideal for people mindful of their blood sugar.
  • Rich in B vitamins and zinc: Vitamin B3 at 5.93 mg/100g (37.1% of RI) and zinc at 2.27 mg/100g (22.7% of RI). Vitamin B3 contributes to normal energy metabolism and the maintenance of normal skin. Zinc supports the immune system and fertility.
