Organic Maritime Pine Essential Oil

Looking for a coniferous essential oil with the resinous Atlantic notes characteristic of the Landes pine, rich in alpha-pinene and terpenes specific to the maritime pine, for woody diffusions and topical massage preparations? The Organic Maritime Pine EO from Herbes et Traditions (Pinus pinaster) is distilled from the needles and twigs of the maritime pine, the iconic tree of the Landes de Gascogne forest. Rich in alpha-pinene and delta-3-carene, its resinous-woody fragrance is distinct from Scots pine due to its denser, more Atlantic notes. 10ml. Ecocert organic certified.

Aromatic and cosmetic profile

  • Dominant alpha-pinene profile (30-50%): the signature monoterpene of all pines, with a higher delta-3-carene content than in Scots pine.
  • Resinous-woody Atlantic fragrance: denser and more resinous than Scots pine, with a note of resin and damp undergrowth evocative of the Landes forest.
  • The pine of the Landes de Gascogne: Pinus pinaster is the iconic tree of Europe's largest artificial forest (Landes de Gascogne, 1 million hectares). Source of turpentine and rosin.
  • 10ml: Organic Ecocert. Herbes et Traditions.

FAQ

What is the difference between maritime pine and Scots pine?
Maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) is richer in delta-3-carene and has a denser, more resinous-Atlantic fragrance. Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) is richer in beta-pinene with a fresher, more Nordic fragrance. Both are excellent for coniferous diffusion and complement each other perfectly.

Is maritime pine grown in France?
Yes, the maritime pine is the dominant tree of the Landes de Gascogne forest (Gironde, Landes, Lot-et-Garonne) — the largest artificial forest in Europe. Part of the French production of maritime pine EO comes from these forests.

Can it be combined with cypress for diffusion?
Yes, maritime pine (dense resinous notes) + cypress (dry woody notes) create a highly appreciated Mediterranean-Atlantic forest blend. You can add a touch of lemon to balance it.
