What is Reishi?

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum), known as Lingzhi in Chinese, is nicknamed the "mushroom of immortality" in traditional Chinese medicine, where it has been used for over 2,000 years. Its chitinous cell wall is difficult to digest: this is why the powder is obtained via hot water extraction. The characteristic bitterness of Reishi comes from its ganoderic acids.
