Solid Deodorant: The recipe

We saw in the previous blog post all the advantages of using solid cosmetics, but did you know that it is very easy to make them yourself with basic equipment:

-a small empty jar to hold your deodorant

-a tablespoon

-a whisk or a fork

-a stainless steel or glass bowl

Avoid plastic utensils

An eco-friendly and economical deodorant that is very simple to make at home!

Ingredients for a small deodorant:

For one person

-1 tablespoon of baking soda (absorbs moisture)

-3 tablespoons of cornstarch or white clay (absorbs moisture)

-5 drops of tea tree essential oil (preservative and antibacterial)

-5 drops of palmarosa, lemon, or other essential oils you enjoy and that are safe for skin use* (fragrance)

-6 tablespoons of virgin or deodorized coconut oil (hydrates and nourishes)

Mix the baking soda, starch, and slightly warmed coconut oil to make it liquid. Once you have a paste, add the essential oils.

Put the product in a small airtight jar and place it in the refrigerator overnight to let it "set." It will become creamy after "hardening," then keep it in a small corner of your bathroom.

To further improve preservation, you can add a few drops of vitamin E

Usage:

Each morning, take a small dab of your deodorant and spread it under your armpits. It will absorb perspiration thanks to the "buffering" power of the baking soda and starch, it will hydrate your skin thanks to the coconut oil, and it will mask unpleasant odors thanks to the essential oils.

This deodorant is naturally preserved thanks to the antibacterial effect of tea tree essential oil and vitamin E.

Here is the estimated cost of this recipe, which will make at least ten small jars of deodorant:

Tea tree essential oil: €6.59

Lemon essential oil: €5.54

Baking soda: €5.20
